Dear Santa,
As the festive season approaches, bringing with it a time of hope and goodwill, I find myself reflecting on a wish that is close to my heart. This year, Santa, I don’t have a list of material gifts. Instead, I have a singular, profound wish that transcends the usual festive requests.
My wish, Santa, is for a real and lasting two-state solution, one that includes the recognition and establishment of Palestine as a UN Member State.
This wish is not just for a political change, but for a new dawn of peace, understanding, and mutual respect in a region that has seen too much suffering. It’s a wish for children to grow up without fear, for families to thrive without the shadow of conflict, and for communities to flourish in harmony.
In addition to this, I wish for more people to watch “Born in Gaza,” available on Netflix (https://www.netflix.com/title/81077863). This heart-wrenching documentary, filmed a decade ago, sheds light on the harrowing realities of life in Gaza.
The fact that it was shot ten years ago, before the latest devastating events and alleged war crimes, is a frightening revelation. It’s a stark reminder that the situation in Gaza is not just a fleeting news headline but an ongoing tragedy that affects real people every day.
Santa, I believe that awareness is the first step towards change. By watching “Born in Gaza,” people around the world can gain a deeper understanding of the plight of those living in conflict zones. It is my hope that this awareness will ignite a global compassion and a renewed push for peace and justice.
I understand that this is no ordinary wish and that it’s beyond the realm of what we traditionally ask of you. But I also believe in the magic of Christmas, the power of collective hope, and the potential for miracles when people come together with a shared vision of peace. If anyone can help bring this wish to the world’s attention, it’s you, Santa.
Thank you for listening to my wish. May this Christmas bring hope and peace to all, especially to those who need it most.
